Mobile Setup
A safer mobile setup is about a trusted access route, updated software, and fewer unnecessary permissions—not installing an app from an unverified link.
Open the service using a saved, verified address. Install an app only when the service confirms it exists and links to an official app-store listing; review the publisher and requested permissions before proceeding.
A mobile site can work in a browser without a dedicated app. Do not infer that an app exists from an advertisement, search result, or message. If the service documents an app, follow its official link and confirm the publisher shown by the store.
Keep the operating system and browser updated, use a device lock, and avoid signing in on shared devices. Check the address before entering credentials, especially after opening a message or QR code. CISA recommends software updates and account protections such as strong passwords and multifactor authentication.
If a page behaves unexpectedly, close it and reopen the verified address rather than granting new permissions or installing a file. For troubleshooting, note the browser version, device type, and non-sensitive error text; never include passwords, codes, or recovery secrets in a support request.
Mobile access checks
- Use a saved or independently verified address
- Confirm an app through the service and official store
- Review publisher and requested permissions
- Update the device and browser; use a screen lock
- Keep credentials and support evidence free of secrets
Avoid unsafe workarounds
- Do not install APKs or profiles from unsolicited links
- Do not bypass location or account controls
- Do not treat a mobile page as proof of app availability
For a mobile error, retry from the verified site after checking updates, then report the device and exact non-sensitive message through official support.
