Wallet Security
Wallet security begins with control of the recovery material: keep it private, verify every signing request, and protect the device used to access it.
Store a seed phrase or private key offline in a way only you control; never enter it into a support chat or unsolicited site. Verify the address and network before confirming a transfer, and use the wallet maker's official recovery guidance.
A wallet's recovery phrase or private key can grant control over assets. Do not photograph it into a cloud album, paste it into a website, or send it to anyone claiming to help. Follow the wallet provider's documented backup method and consider the physical risks of the place where a backup is kept.
Before signing, read the wallet prompt and confirm what it authorizes. For a transfer, compare the first and last characters and then the full destination using a trusted display; clipboard contents can be changed by malware. Confirm the selected network and asset as well as the address.
Keep the device updated, use a screen lock, install wallet software only from a verified publisher source, and be cautious with browser extensions and permissions. Official wallet recovery steps differ, so use the documentation for your specific wallet rather than a generic recovery link.
Before approving a wallet action
- Keep recovery words and keys private and offline
- Verify the destination and network independently
- Read what a signature or approval permits
- Update and lock the device; review extensions
- Use the wallet's official backup and recovery instructions
Never do this
- Never disclose a seed phrase or private key to support
- Never approve a request you do not understand
- Never trust an unsolicited recovery or validation link
Use the documentation from the exact wallet publisher, then verify the address and requested action before signing.
